January 15 in the permanent category “Expert view” from NewsNetwork – academician, doctor of economic Sciences Anatolii Peshko, who in an exclusive interview with NewsNetwork gave an assessment of the external debt of Ukraine and how we will pay. In his opinion, all those indicators of the budget and the tax principle, which is the basis of the budget for the current year, does not allow our state to stand still and develop steadily.

Anatolii Peshko, academician, doctor of economic Sciences:

“Today, given the situation that has developed in the economy of our country, Ukraine will not be able to pay its external debts. The percentage of these debts is about 85% -90% of GDP, which is about 114-120 billion dollars. If in 2013 GDP was 183 billion dollars, last year it fell to 90 billion dollars, despite the fact that the country’s external debt is about 114-120 billion in February, Ukraine needs to pay 450 million dollars to the IMF, and during the year about 7 billion percent of external debt. Also in parallel it is necessary to pay 3 billion debt on so-called debt of Yanukovych, but it is a sovereign debt of Ukraine on the issued Eurobonds and anywhere from this debt our power won’t get to. In addition, winning the courts, we lost to the Russian “Gazprom” another $ 2 billion. If Ukraine has to pay these $ 2 billion, I am afraid that the total amount of debts for this year will be about $ 12 billion, and for Ukraine it is an unaffordable debt. Therefore, with all the statements that we will have an economic growth of about 3% -4% of GDP, there will be no growth, because all those indicators of the budget and the tax principle, which is the basis of the budget for this year, does not allow our state to stand still and develop steadily.”
