Гройсман пообещал, что цены на газ до президентских выборов повышаться не будут

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said on Wednesday at a meeting of the government that before the end of the current heating season gas prices for the population will no longer rise. Thus, the Prime Minister reacted to the rumors that in favor of the requirements of the International monetary Fund (IMF) in Ukraine again plan to raise prices for blue fuel for consumers by 35%.

“Neither this year, nor this heating season, the price of gas will not increase,” Groysman stressed.

In Ukraine, the heating season lasts on average until mid-April. That is, according to the Prime Minister, gas in the country will no longer rise in price until the presidential elections, which are scheduled for March 31, 2019.

Earlier, during an extraordinary meeting of the government of Ukraine, it was decided to raise retail gas prices by 23.5% from November 1, 2018, in accordance with the IMF requirements. At the same time, Prime Minister Groysman said that this decision , although not popular, was necessary, since the refusal of it would threaten the country with default.

At the same time, experts believe that the current increase in gas prices in Ukraine is not the last and will soon be followed by another.

In particular, TASS cites the opinion of expert Anatolii Peshko that another increase in gas prices in Ukraine may occur at the beginning of the new year. According to him, on the sidelines of the Ukrainian government, statements are made that the price of gas for the population can be brought to the level of industrial consumers, that is, to be about 12-13 thousand hryvnia per thousand cubic meters. At the same time, the expert noted that after the rise in price of gas, prices for utilities, heating and hot water will inevitably rise – by at least 50%.
