“Nord stream-2” will still be built: in Kiev, told how much Ukraine will lose if it loses its gas transportation function
Between Europe and the United States are now serious disputes about the “Nord stream-2”, which according to plans should begin to build this summer. According to experts, the head of the White house Donald Trump has no chance to block the project, even by imposing sanctions against five Western energy concerns that have a stake in the Gazprom project. In their opinion, if the US, for example, decides on new sanctions against Russia, the project will receive even more funding. It is also said that the Europeans are very angry at trump, because he prevents them to save, trying to sell American liquefied gas, which is more expensive by 30% of the Russian.
In addition, today in Kiev held a press conference on the construction of “SP-2” and the possible loss of Ukraine’s gas transportation function. So, according to the Vice-President of the Academy of economic Sciences of Ukraine Anatolii Peshko, unfortunately, for Ukraine “Nord stream-2” still built, because it expressed interest not only Germany but also a number of other Western European countries.
“This is because they all see economic benefits in this project, and as you know, rationality plays a significant role in the West – there is an economic benefit in this project, so it will be implemented. In any case, it is a tragedy for Ukraine. Even if Kiev will be able to restore relations with Russia, we will still lose about half of the possible transit,”-said the analyst.
“Let me remind you that last year Ukraine pumped 90 billion cubic meters this year, we can pump more than 100 billion cubic meters In 2017 Ukraine received a USD 2.8 billion. If this year through the Ukrainian GTS will pass 100 billion gas, as expected, it will bring us $ 3.2 billion. Here from these data also draw conclusions that we will lose if Ukraine loses the gas transportation function. For the Ukrainian economy $ 3 billion. a very large amount, which is almost 3% of GDP”, – concluded Peshko.
