Experts assessed the risks of developing a situation of confrontation between the authorities and entrepreneurs.

A protest action of entrepreneurs and business representatives is taking place in the capital. Businesses have been on strike against the ban on business activities during the strict quarantine that the Ukrainian government plans to introduce after the Christmas holidays. Entrepreneurs first went on strike outside the Parliament, then near the President’s Office. later, the protesters set up tents on the maidan and continued to picket. During the protest, the police began to dismantle the tents set up by the protesters. Ukrainian political scientists told about what such a confrontation can lead to and whether entrepreneurs have a chance of winning. “What is happening is a harbinger of more serious conflicts,” Vitaliy Kulik, Director of the Center for Research on Civil Society Issues , emphasizes that he not only supports the FOP protests, but also takes a direct part in the actions. “There are scattered groups among the protesters. And it is impossible to reach a consensus on the political agenda. So, although I myself take part in the protests (as a entrepreneur ), I am skeptical about the final result — ” Vitaly Kulik admitted. – The maximum task is to cancel initiatives to fiscalize the activities of fops. I think some concessions from the government and parliament are possible. But, most likely, there will be either a moratorium on the introduction of cash registers, or a revision of some non-essential items. But it is unlikely that some of the “servants” and the Cabinet of Ministers will abandon the idea of total fiscalization of the work of fops.” Given that this threat will remain over small businesses, the director of the Center for Research on Civil Society Issue  predicts continued protests. Moreover, no one is going to cancel the lockdown, which is also opposed by entrepreneurs. And the new restrictions, the expert is sure, will be a control shot in the head for many business representatives. “Restrictions, bans, pressure will remain, supporting the protest component,” Vitaly Kulik emphasizes. – Let me remind you that at one time the tax Maidan preceded the Revolution of Dignity. It ended with the emergence of new public initiatives capable of protest, rapid mobilization, coordination and solidarity. Then they became organized combat units on euromaidan.” explaining the position of the authorities, who do not seem to understand the seriousness of the situation, the expert noted: “the authorities do not consider fops to be a force. They say that they are just small shopkeepers who are not capable of a long-playing confrontation and that’s where they’re wrong discontent will grow, there are more and more revolutionary segments. What is happening now is a harbinger of more serious social conflicts if not a new maidan.” “Entrepreneur protests are a struggle for survival” Academician, First Vice-president of the Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine Anatoly Peshko emphasizes that the government is not able to fill the budget at the expense of real producers. There are almost no powerful enterprises left. Therefore, our “steering” want to compensate for everything by increasing the taxation of all business entities including small and medium-sized businesses. “Cash registers, all sorts of new levies will actually reduce entrepreneurship to zero. And the current entrepreneur  protests are, in fact, a struggle for survival. Unfortunately, there are suspicions that they are unlikely to be listened to, ” says Anatoly Peshko – the trouble is also that our people often do not delve into the essence of what is happening, into the actions of the authorities – legislative and executive. And it tries to change something when the situation is almost irreversible. When confronted with a fact. And we need to act sooner.” The expert is sure that the current government is not aimed at improving the well-being of Ukrainians, including small businesses. “There are no clear strategies or important steps to improve the economic situation. It seems that there are deliberate actions of the authorities to collapse both the economy and the country. Planned actions according to a well-established scheme of external players. We are simply being squeezed out to third world countries. They suck up resources. Now they have also taken a swing at the land and the people and the country are being deliberately driven into poverty. To get what you want on the cheap. From my point of view, it is not enough to change the laws now. It is necessary to change this power and the general approaches to state management, ” Anatoly Peshko sums up. As reported by the portal “Comments”, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada adopted a bill on the fiscalization of FLP, which provides for a delay until 2022 the introduction of mandatory cash registers for entrepreneurs.
