Academician Anatoly Peshko address to the chairman of the political party “Opposition Platform – For Life” Viktor Medvedchuk.

Dear Victor Vladimirovich!

Despite the change of presidents in Ukraine, the situation in the east of our country practically does not change for the better. It became obvious that peace in Donbass and the return of prisoners to their homes was being postponed. In the Trilateral Contact Group, Ukraine has been systematically rejected since April. At the same time, CADLO trusts you much more than the Ukrainian authorities. This is evidenced by the LPR’s proposal to transfer to Ukraine a group of detainees through your mediation. We are talking about women, elderly and people suffering from serious diseases. Ukraine is obliged to return its citizens home. In the conditions of complete political impotence of the current government, do not disregard the numerous appeals of the relatives of the prisoners. You have always proposed to exchange “everyone for everyone” and said that in the Russian Federation you agree with this. Now there is a chance to return people unilaterally.

The Ukrainian authorities, represented by Leonid Kravchuk, have already indicated that they will oppose the transfer of the detained persons to you. Moreover, they propose to resolve the issue “at the interstate level,” thus recognizing CADLO as independent states. This is either non-professionalism, or criminal activity, for which the authorities still have to answer. But now the main thing is the fate of people. More than three years ago, you already managed to carry out a large-scale exchange of prisoners for the New Year, despite the fact that, according to you, Petro Poroshenko in every possible way obstructed the exchange. On behalf of all the relatives of the prisoners, I ask you not to dwell on your intentions. Let the political squabbles and envy of people who have no influence on such processes do not prevent Ukrainians from returning home.

Yours faithfully,

Anatoly Peshko
